Before the Livestream Begins

1. Wake computer and monitor

Wake the computer and sign in.

  • Turn on the monitor. Touch the keyboard, then the power button to wake up the computer. If it does not wake, turn the monitor on and off and it will open.

  • Switch on the Magic Trackpad.

  • Sign using the Streamteam user and password (provided to you)

2. Download the bulletin

Download the bulletin and open in Preview.

  • After signing in, you might see different windows and update alerts. Cancel out of any of these–a computer administrator must apply updates.

  • You should see Chrome (web browser), Ecamm (streaming software), Preview (.pdf viewer), and Zoom (conferencing software) open.

  • Open Chrome, click the home button in the toolbar. This will take you to the Streamteam Google Drive.

  • Find the bulletin .pdf with today’s date. Click and use the download button. The file will download to the Downloads folder.

  • Open the file. It should open up on the left side of the monitor. If not, position the window there.

  • Minimize the Chrome browser using the yellow minimize button.

  • Remove the lens cap, and place next to the camera.

  • Turn the power knob to ‘on.’ The LCD finder should light up, and the picture will appear in the Ecamm window.

  • Adjust the zoom and tripod only if needed.

  • Troubleshooting: Autofocus should be on and working. But if the focus looks very wrong, touch the camera LCD screen where you see the subject (usually person at pulpit) and autofocus will resume.

3. Turn on camera

4. Start the Zoom audio-only feed

We run an audio-only phone feed for those in the congregation who cannot attend the service but don’t have a computer or smartphone to view the stream.

  • Open Zoom app from the dock and navigate to the list of meetings.

  • Select the meeting titled, “Sunday Morning Audio-Only Call-in” and click Start. Video should be disabled so you won’t see anything.

  • Check the audio settings to make sure the microphone selected is called “USB AUDIO CODEC.” It should already be selected, so this is just a double check.

    • To reveal audio setting, click the little arrow next to the microphone icon.

  • Minimize the Zoom window. There is nothing you need to do within Zoom until you disconnect at the end of the service

Starting and Running the Livestream (Begin 10 min before service)

Prepare windows for toggling back and forth between Preview app (.pdf of bulletin) and the camera.

  • Make sure that the .pdf is showing in Single Page scrolling and is properly zoomed. Single page mode will allow you to advance the slides using the “Page Down” key on the keyboard.

    • Use the VIEW menu to select Single Page scrolling.

  • Once you can comfortably toggle between the camera and the bulletin, you are ready to go live.

  • “Go Live” 10 minutes before the start of the service when the musician(s) will begin the prelude.

  • Check the stream using the “View Stream” button (eyeball icon to the right of the toggle buttons at the top of the Ecamm screen). The broadcast stream will be about 10 seconds behind the live event, so whatever change you make in the Ecamm window shows up 10 seconds later in the stream.

5. Prepare Ecamm and start Go Live

During the service, toggle to the bulletin for congregational responses or singing.

  • During the sermon, we toggle and advance the slides as the minister reaches each point in the sermon outline provided (see first video below)

  • During any congregational confessions, scripture readings, or songs, we show and advance the bulletin

6. Advance slides during the service

Closing Down at End of Service

  • Ecamm: Click “finish” at the end of the service. The recording is automatically saved.

  • Zoom: End meeting. Click the arrow to maximize the application and click End.

  • Log out of the Streamteam account on the computer.

  • Power off the trackpad using the small toggle switch on the back.

  • Turn camera off and replace lens cap.

7. Log out of computer and turn camera off
