Douglas Giebel
RULING ELDER
Elder Giebel moved to Rochester in the fall of 1982 with his wife Charlotte and their two children to accept a position teaching studio art and art history at Roberts Wesleyan College. Two more children were born in Rochester and baptized into the church, where Douglas served as a Deacon from 1983 until 1991, when he was elected to serve as a Ruling Elder.
Since retiring from teaching in 2015, Douglas has enjoyed continuing his studio practice as a painter, and delights in researching and finding the many ways in which church history and art history complement each other.

Dean Moore
RULING ELDER
Elder Moore and his wife Linda have resided in Rochester since 1974; he is now semi-retired from a career as an optician. He and Linda enjoy spending time with their two sons and five grandchildren, who bring immense joy to their lives.
Dean has found that one of the great privileges of serving as an Elder for over 33 years has been the opportunity to come alongside fellow Christians, share life experiences, reflect on the mercy and blessings of our loving Father, and join in prayer together. Dean rejoices over the companionship and support of the other Elders and the whole church family at Cornerstone.

Eric has been an Elder since 2009 and, until recently, was a long-time teacher of the Sr. High Sunday School class. He enjoys helping to lead worship and is amazed at how the Holy Spirit uses prayerful collaborators to make worship a blessing for God’s people. On the side, he enjoys woodworking, making cider, and writing.

Richard Schumacher
RULING ELDER
Elder Schumacher has been a life-long resident of Rochester. He was blessed to have had faithful Christian parents who modeled godly living and emphasized family devotions, regular church attendance, Christian education and Christian service. He learned about Christ from an early age and professed his faith as a teenager. He has been an elder for over 40 years in the OPC. He especially enjoys visiting and assisting members in need.
He met his wife and best friend, Barbara, in high school, and they have enjoyed a marriage of nearly 50 years and three children. He retired from a 42-year career in industry and has transitioned into a ‘domestic engineer’ and grandfather to 11 grandchildren.

Elise van der Jagt
RULING ELDER
Elder van der Jagt grew up in this church as a youth and college student, and returned in 1978 after serving in the Navy as a physician. Residing in Rochester since that time, he is married with seven children and many grandchildren.
Elise has served as an elder since the 1980s. He has also used his musical gifts as a worship accompanist since his high school years. He finds it a joyful privilege to minister at Cornerstone by teaching God's Word in the Adult Sunday School program. He especially thanks God for the opportunity to support those who have spiritual and physical challenges.

Eliot Giebel
DEACON
Deacon Eliot Giebel has attended this church since 1982, when his family relocated to Rochester during his childhood. He enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, performing in a local symphony orchestra, playing rec league volleyball, and attending live music events around the area. Eliot works as a journeyman pipefitter and project manager in the Rochester area and has served as a Deacon for the past 13 years.
As a Deacon, Eliot enjoys the camaraderie of working together with other officers in the church, the privilege of enthusiastically showing love to God's people through the ministry of mercy, and the adventure of meeting people from all walks of life to encourage them in Christ's name.

Dan Lash
DEACON
Deacon Daniel Lash has been a resident of Rochester NY since 1980. He and his wife Cindy have been together for 40 years. Dan worked at UPS for 35 years, retiring in 2023. He has two adult daughters.
Dan has attended Cornerstone Church for the last 23 years, serving in multiple ministries during that time. He has been a Deacon since 2024. Dan has found great joy in showing people in need the love of Christ through the ministry of mercy, discovering that being a cup of cold water in a dry and thirsty world is one of the greatest ways to show others who Jesus is before ever speaking the truth.
